Grok Bot guide (unofficial)
Grok Bot is a desktop and mobile app from SpaceXAI (xAI) where you create named Bots: AI teammates that do work on a cloud computer. It uses your Cursor account, and it comes with paid Cursor plans (Pro, Pro+, Ultra, Teams), a linked SuperGrok, SuperGrok Plus, SuperGrok Heavy or X Premium+ subscription, or a seat on a self-serve Grok Business plan. All your Bots share one cloud computer, so treat them as one set of hands, not separate vaults.

What is Grok Bot?
Short answer: Grok Bot is an app for creating Bots that keep a name, a job and context over time. Each Bot works on a persistent cloud computer with a browser, a filesystem and a terminal, and you reach the same Bot from the desktop app and the mobile app.
xAI's docs describe Bots as "AI teammates with names, jobs, and context that compounds over time." Bots can run in parallel, message each other, share context in group chats and hand a task to another Bot. Grok Bot launched in beta on 11 Aug 2026.
Who runs the service? Grok Bot is announced by SpaceXAI at x.ai, but it runs on Cursor. The docs say "Grok Bot uses your Cursor account" and "The computers Bots work on run in Cursor's cloud."
Cursor picks the model for you. The docs say "there is no model picker."

Does each Bot get its own computer?
Short answer: No. xAI's docs say all of your Bots use the same cloud computer, which belongs to your account. Each Bot gets its own screen on that computer, but browser logins, files and command-line credentials are shared by every Bot.
The docs put it plainly: "The screens are separate work surfaces, not separate security boundaries." Some xAI marketing says otherwise. The x.ai/bot page says "Bots have their own computer", and xAI's 3 Sep 2026 Enterprise post says "Each Bot runs on its own computer in the cloud." We follow the docs, which the x.ai/bot FAQ also backs: "Isolation is per user, not per Grok Bot." The security guide explains what that means in practice.
Which plans include Grok Bot, and what do they cost?
Short answer: Every paid individual Cursor plan and Cursor Teams include Grok Bot. On the web, Cursor Pro is $20, Pro+ $60 and Ultra $200 a month, and SuperGrok is $30 a month. Buying Cursor plans inside the Grok Bot iOS app costs more: $25.99, $77.99 and $259.99 (US store).
Yearly Cursor billing is sold on the web only: Cursor Pro works out to $16 a month, Pro+ to $48, Ultra to $160, Teams Standard to $32 per seat and Teams Premium to $96 per seat, all billed yearly. SuperGrok is $30 a month on the web and $30.00 in the US Grok iOS app; the web saving comes only from yearly billing, at $300 a year. The setup guide has the full table, including Malaysian ringgit (RM) app prices.
Where do you get the real Grok Bot app?
Short answer: Go to x.ai/bot yourself, or open the App Store or Google Play from the links on xAI's docs. Don't buy "Grok plans" from WhatsApp sellers, and don't rely on links sent to you in a DM.
Official plans are listed on x.ai and sold on grok.com, cursor.com and inside the official apps. Cards offering "plans from Rs. 399" over WhatsApp and resold shared accounts are not official. The "comment GROK" hook does appear in official creator ads, but the safe path is the same either way: type x.ai/bot into your browser. More in how to spot fake Grok Bot sellers.
What changed recently in Grok Bot?
Short answer: Grok Bot launched in beta on 11 Aug 2026, was added to more plans on 26 Aug, gained X support on 29 Aug, got an Enterprise launch post on 3 Sep and Team Bots on 28 Sep 2026. In October, Cursor added Grok Business seats as a way in.

- 3 Sep 2026: xAI's Enterprise post said Grok and Cursor Enterprise customers had free usage "for the next two weeks".

- 22 Aug 2026: xAI's third-party bot terms took effect. They cover sharing and installing Bots made by other people.
- 11 Aug 2026: Grok Bot launched in beta.
Where do xAI's own pages disagree?
Short answer: On four points the x.ai/bot marketing page says something different from xAI's docs: whether each Bot has its own computer, which platforms are supported, whether Enterprise is generally available, and whether admins can set data loss prevention. This guide follows the docs.
- Own computer: x.ai/bot says "Bots have their own computer". The docs say the computer "is assigned to your user account, not an individual Bot."
- Platforms: the x.ai/bot FAQ says "desktop (macOS or Windows) or your phone with the iOS app". The docs list macOS, Windows, Linux, iOS and Android, and the Android app is live on Google Play.
- Enterprise: x.ai/bot says "Grok Bot is generally available for Enterprise". The docs FAQ says "Enterprise access is rolling out." Either way, Enterprise goes through sales.
- Data loss prevention: x.ai/bot says "Enterprise admins can set DLP". The docs security page says "Dedicated data loss prevention hooks are not available."
Is Grok Bot the same thing as Grok?
Short answer: No. Grok is xAI's model family and chat app, and the Grok API is for developers. Grok Bot is a separate app for Bots that work on a cloud computer.
For the developer API, see our Grok developer guide.
